December was a truly memorable and joyful month at Tamani Foundation as we celebrated our Annual Day and closed the year on a high note.

Before the main program began, parents, board members, and invited guests were guided through a series of student-led exhibitions that reflected our commitment to experiential and holistic learning.

The first exhibition showcased Grade 7 projects on environmental responsibility, focusing on waste separation, composting, and creative repurposing and upcycling of shells and plastic materials. Learners confidently explained their ideas and demonstrated practical solutions for sustainability.

This was followed by a STEM exhibition, featuring hands-on projects such as electric circuits, a working model of the kidney, a water filtration system, and displays on climate, the environment, and plant growth. These projects highlighted curiosity, problem-solving, and applied scientific thinking.

The final exhibition was an Art Exhibition, rich in creativity and storytelling. Displays included stories of the Prophets, knitting projects, 3D paper-mâché models of marine animals, wooden carvings of boats inspired by the story of Prophet Nuh (Noah), school maps drawn by Grade 7 learners, colouring work from Grade 1, and a wide range of drawings from children across the school.

Following the exhibitions, the Annual Day program officially began with a Qur’an recitation by Grade 1 learners, beautifully presented with meaning. This was followed by an inspiring and motivating welcome speech by Mualim Vuai, our new Head of Primary, setting a hopeful tone for the future.

Our KG2 learners proudly presented the Tanzanian National Anthem and National Flag, explaining the colours of the flag and what each one represents, an impressive display of confidence and patriotism at such a young age.

The celebration continued with a vibrant showcase of Tanzanian cultures through traditional clothing and dances, including Zanzibarian, Maasai, Indian, and Arabic performances, highlighting the beauty of diversity within our community.

We also marked important milestones with the Pre-Primary Graduation and the Grade 7 Graduation. Our Grade 7 learners achieved strong results, earning Bs and Cs, and the joy and pride shared by students, teachers, and parents was truly heartwarming.

A powerful drama on the role of parents in a child’s education reminded us all of the importance of partnership in a learner’s success. This was followed by a touching Utenzi performance by the Grade 7 girls, expressing appreciation to all staff members for their dedication and support.

The audience was delighted by a surprise recitation from our alumni, reflecting the lasting connection they continue to have with Tamani Foundation.

Innovation and creativity were also on full display during the Coding & STEM presentations. Learners proudly demonstrated a calculator and a math game they coded themselves, as well as a STEM project where they created a functional extension cable from everyday materials, using wood as the base.

Parents enjoyed watching the School Annual Video, which captured highlights of student life throughout the year. The celebration concluded with prize-giving that recognized not only academic excellence but also achievements in sports, art, and good manners—reinforcing our holistic approach to education.

The Annual Day closed with a heartfelt du’a, bringing the celebration to a meaningful end.

Beyond the celebrations, December also marked the successful completion of an intensive one-month in house teacher training by Madrasa Resource Center. The training concluded with a 7-day life skills camp at Ali’s Acre Farm in Makunduchi, where participants engaged in career development sessions, life skills training, pottery, zip-lining and trekking in Masingini Forest, and more. It was an unforgettable experience that ended the year with growth, reflection, and renewed purpose.

December reminded us of how far we have come as a community and left us inspired for the year ahead.
