Short Term Volunteer Program

Although not as extensive as the long term programs, getting involved for a shorter period of time will still give you an unforgettable experience.  The program will give you the chance to get immersed in the local culture during your time spent with the students. For periods up to two weeks the tasks will be more limited due to the time it takes to get adjusted into the new environment. For periods longer than 2 weeks you will have an opportunity to immerse yourself in some of the more “advanced” tasks that normally are assigned to long term volunteers.

Location: Matemwe, North-East coast of Zanzibar
Program length: 1-3 weeks
Working hours: Mon-Thu 08:00-17:00, Fridays 08:00 – 13:00
Age requirements: 18+
Accommodation: A cosy room on site with ensuite bathroom, kitchenette, fan, A/C, and mini-fridge.
Food: Full board (3 meals) every day of the week. You can make coffee/tea in your room.
Introduction kit: Written information, short orientation, cultural lesson, and village tour.
Price: $35/night (includes room, and full board meals)
Excluded: Flight tickets, Volunteer Visa ($200), medical insurance, and all personal expenses.
Volunteer work:  

• Assist in tutoring and playing with the nursery and primary students.
• Work with the teachers to aid them find and create English educational materials,
• Administrative tasks when necessary.
